SEVEN NEIGHBORS + SUN TOUCHES SHADOW
Avian murmurations are a mesmerizing sight. Each bird synchronizes its movement to seven of its neighbors to fly as a connected whole, forming swirling patterns in the sky. Together with a pair of murals, our monochromatic series animates the lobby and courtyard of DreamWorks Animation.
300 individually formed water-jet cut aluminum birds are split powder-coated in charcoal and chrome. Hand-drawn lines translated into reflective swooshes bounce light and add a sense of circular movement.
In the adjacent courtyard, our mural series Sun Touches Shadow, features graceful grasses, larger-than-life flora and graphic lines. Brooms of various shapes and sizes form oversized brushstrokes and white paint glazed over black creates the softest slate blue.
