This sky-inspired mural for supportive housing in Inglewood draws our attention up, to the reliably beautiful and soothing colors above. Midday blues and sunrise pinks and yellows connect to the sky throughout the day as the light shifts.
The environment surrounding the artwork is visually spare and sun-bleached.
We introduced crisp lines and sunny colors to connect to the surrounding environment, but mostly this painting highlights soft sheer layers of color with luminosity and subtle texture.
The mural began with clean graphic shapes to lay the structure. Then we layered tints, glazes and brushy strokes. Layering gives the paint dimension and creates unexpected and soft hues.
