Estock Elementary LUNA
For our second MuralKit at Estock Elementary we returned to create a moon mural Luna across from our sun mural Sol.
Together the two murals, Luna and Sol, represent balance, light and dark, and create a welcoming frame to the courtyard space.
Luna, the collaborative mural created by Studio Tutto and Estock Elementary, is a peaceful evening portrait. Luna is an arrangement of native flowers and plants from Estock’s own garden, including sticky monkey flower, California poppies, scarlet bugler, purple and red salvias.
The composition is brought to life by an orb weaver spider, Anna’s hummingbird, salt marsh moth, honeybee, cricket, and ladybugs.
The mural invites viewers to look closely and observe the nighttime details - the hummingbird is asleep, the poppies are closed, the butterflies are gone but a moth is out.
This mural was truly a collaboration of all ages. We supported the group with paint colors and gentle instruction, but the day unfolded organically and ended with a fully painted, beautiful wall.
